EXCLUSIVE! TOMMY BOYD re James Whale & talkSPORT with kind permission of Tommy Boyd mickYNWA; Tommy, what's your views please, on James Whale's 'departure' from talkSPORT? Tommy; I haven't heard what James is alleged to have said. If he said what is being said he said, then he crossed a line which all of us know about - you don't tell listeners how to vote. Not just in National Elections, but Local too. I can imagine the whole circus of the Mayor of London election might put a lesser broadcaster off their guard, but an election is an election, and James is a great broadcaster. I understand he may be of the view that the directives regarding neutrality may not have been in place at the time he spoke. I just don't know. Maybe he'll give his version of the remarks at a later date. Meantime I wish him well, he's the daddy. mickYNWA; Rumours are rife you could be returning to talkSPORT, anything in this Tommy? Tommy; I haven't been approached by talkSport, and they'd be wasting the call, as I'm very happy at Original106. She's a good ship, great crew, and a gutsy skipper. I'm flying under the Jolly Roger again. Better than piddling around on a boating lake like I was before... mickYNWA; Internet Radio - is this still in your opinion, the future for the likes of so-called 'shock-jocks' ... a-la Howard Stern? Tommy; I'm not sure shock-jockery is my thing these days, I still enjoy the cat among the pigeons, but I also enjoy straight humour, proper reportage and genuine inquiry into the human condition. Or lack of it. Easily bored, me, I need to be somebody slightly diferent every 5 minutes... mickYNWA; The Play Radio UK show on the Internet was and still is very popular - any chance of you returning in some form (even a guest appearance, maybe?) Tommy; I love the Play Radio setup, the people there are fantastic; intelligent, visionary, drinkers. I can't do anything with them just now, ... but who knows?
